"UCLA Career Day (1996-ish) this is when they bring in Industry Professionals to talk to bright eyed college seniors about what they can expect in the future. My Alma mater is a pretty big school so most of the popular Career Day choices were standing room only. I followed the herd to the most popular ones, Law School, MBA, corporate executive, etc, etc...except for my last choice of the day. My last choice was an Entrepreneurial lecture. As I walked from the packed Movie Industry lecture to this particular choice, I noticed that the hordes of student moving with me was diminishing, until I found myself standing alone in front of some lecture hall door at the far end of campus. When I entered the 500 person lecture hall there were less than 30 students. I surely was in the wrong lecture, but a reassuring lecturer told me I was at the right place and welcomed me in. I don't remember every speaker, where they came from or their names, but I do remember one phrase, from one speaker, who was obviously annoyed with the turnout, he said "Entrepreneurship is a disease, success or failure only feeds the disease".

I couldn't agree with that statement more. I don't know why that particular statement, on that particular day stuck with me, but it has and it did. This blog is a culmination of years of experience working with small businesses and owning a few of my own. I am constantly looking at business trends for not only my clients and my small business, but for the entrepreneurial community to share and agree or disagree.

"El Día Profesión de  UCLA" (1996-más o menos) es cuando traen a profesionales de la industria para hablar con estudiantes sobre lo que pueden esperar en el futuro. Mi escuela era bastante grande así que la mayoría de las opciones solo había espacio para estar parado. Fui a las opciones populares; LEY, Maestría de Negocios, Ejecutivos Corporativos, etc., etc. .., excepto mi última opción del día. Mi última opción fue una conferencia empresarial. Mientras caminaba desde la conferencias de la Industria de Cine, me di cuenta de que la cantidad de estudiantes moviéndose conmigo fue disminuyendo, hasta que me encontré solo frente a alguna puerta de una sala de conferencias en el otro extremo del campus. Cuando entré en la sala de conferencias para 500 personas había menos de 30 estudiantes. Seguramente fue en la conferencia equivocada, pero un profesor me tranquilizado y me dijo que estaba en el lugar correcto y me dio la bienvenida. No recuerdo todos los oradores, de dónde vinieron o sus nombres, pero yo me acuerdo de una frase, de un altavoz, que se molestó, obviamente con la participación, el dijo: "El espíritu empresarial es una enfermedad, el éxito o el fracaso sólo alimentan la enfermedad".

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con esa afirmación. Yo no sé por qué esa declaración, de ese día me quedó grabada, pero así es. Este blog es la culminación de años de experiencia trabajando con pequeñas empresas y dueño de algunas de las mías. Estoy buscando constantemente a las tendencias de negocios no sólo para mis clientes y mi pequeña empresa, sino para la comunidad empresarial para compartir y estar de acuerdo o en desacuerdo.
